Opened as part of the 803rd anniversary of seat of the Bangli Regency, the Museum Gunung Api Batur was officially opened its Regent I Nengah Arnawa. The Museum is located in Bangli, not far from Batur – one Bali’s active volcanic mountains. Intended to educate the public on both the dangers of volcanoes as well as the positive contribution they make to mankind, the Museum features interactive exhibits for children and computer animations. |

Bali visited by BY 154,000 foreign tourists in January |

Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Bali Island received 154,000 foreign tourists in January 2008, an increase by 29.88 percent from 107,800 in January 2007. "On average, Bali is visited by around 5,135 foreign tourists daily, an improvement compared to the days before the 2002 and 2005 bombings," head of the Bali provincial tourism service I Gede Nurjaya said here on Friday. Bali would maintain and even improve its image internationally, he said. "The image has various aspects, namely safety, comfort, cleanliness, and good service," Nurjaya said. The Bali administration had set itself the target of attracting 1.9 million foreign tourists in 2008. In 2007, the tourist island received a total of 1,664,047 foreign visitors. Museums Designed as Tourist Destinations |

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on various parties to design the country`s museums as tourist destinations for the public and at the same time as places to study the country`s history. For the purpose, the President asked museum managers to improve the museums attractions in order to attract more visitors. “The museums’ scenarios should be designed in more innovative ways to attract more visitors. Therefore, museum managers should be creative,” President Yudhoyono said when inaugurating the Statue Building (Gedung Arca) of the National Museum at Jalan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday. |
